Jesus’s Kingdom Manifesto

We have just started our series on the Sermon on the Mount – aiming to spending enough time on each section to figure out the practical implications for us and, hopefully, find ways to actually put it into practice. The Sermon can be seen as Jesus’ radical, world-changing manifesto as he spells out what following him entails in very concrete ways. Should be fun – and challenging!

Here is an outline of the topics ahead of us. I’ve grouped them into subsections and grouped these into three main sections, so we can see where we are headed a little bit. Thanks to Dietrich Bonhoeffer for his kind assistance on this 🙂

I’ve not put dates on them since we might want to spend two weeks on one subject, or intersperse this agenda with other activities and sessions.

The Extraordinary Way

New values (Matt 5:1-12)
The visible community (Matt 5:13-20)
Brothers (Matt 5:21-26)
Relationships (Matt 5:27-32)
Words (Matt 5:33-37)
Power (Matt 5:38-42)
Enemies (Matt 5:43-48)

The Hidden Way
Generosity (Matt 6:1-4)
Fasting and forgiving (Matt 6:5-18)
Simplicity and carefree (Matt 6:19-34)

The Separate Way
The unbeliever (Matt 7:1-12)
The narrow way (Matt 7:13-23)
The solid way (Matt 7:24-29)
