Reaching out

Lately, I’ve been hard to reach;  I’ve been too long on my own
Everybody has a private world where they can be alone

Are you calling me? Are you trying to get through?
Are you reaching out for me, like I’m reaching out for you?

Last week we talked about being actively welcoming as a group (let’s invite people, folks!); we discussed (i) whether some kind of ‘open event’ (like a BBQ) and also about (ii) organising an event in late June which would be meaningful for non-, or latent-, or lapsed- Christian friends.

In the missional spirit I believe we can do (i) but not at the expense of (ii).  So please come to dinner on Tuesday with some ideas about what kind of event we could do as a group that would be representative of us and attractive to friends of ours (you might want to think of a few names and get specific).  Even better, blog your ideas here!

  1. Some ideas to kick off the brainstorm. None are perfect but I’d be interested in your comments…

    1. A summer picnic on Avenue Albine with a time of singing/worship (us!).

    2. A summer barbeque with some kind of theme (similar to what we did at Christmas, with sketches etc.) – but what would be an appropriate theme?

    3. Some kind of evening event – not for kids – more ambient/reflective in nature? What would be the theme?

    4. A ‘spirituality for dummies’ event – what would that look like?

    5. A mums event – the rest of us can do the childcare whilst the mums have some time for reflection or whatever.

    6. A video/discussion night.

  2. We have a friend, Elena, who lives right next to the park, we need to invite, and so far we have forgotten…!
